While the City of Thousand Oaks, the County seat, encompasses most of Newbury Park, a section of the city is also home to several major employers. The natural environment is integrated amongst the neighborhood life in Newbury Park. The Santa Monica Mountains, Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area, and Los Robles Open Space Area all border the town. In addition, Los Robles Regional Park and Hope Nature Reserve are located nearby. Hiking and biking trails are plentiful, and you can even connect Newbury Park to the Pacific Ocean. Rancho Sierra Vista Park is an excellent place to take your dog for a walk or jog, and the city is home to a thriving art scene.
The town has an interesting mix of new and old, with a high percentage of original homes built in the 1960s. Large modern homes are also available in Lynn Road communities. Many people consider Newbury Park to be one of the most affordable towns in the Conejo Valley. In addition to newer neighborhoods, there are some older neighborhoods with charming homes that are full of character and pride of ownership.
